I am interested in combining representational and abstract approaches in the same piece, to capture different aspects of a place and bring out new resonances in the subject-matter. The paintings were inspired by landscapes in the Staffordshire Moorlands, the Galloway coast in Scotland, Westray in the Orkney Islands, Colonsay in the Inner Hebrides, and the North Norfolk Coast.
